This calculator may be used to calculate electric vehicle (EV) charging cost and time as well as autonomous driving range after a certain charging time.

EV charging time calculation

To calculate the charging time, specify:

  1. battery capacity, kWh;
  2. charging power, kW;

    The higher is the power, the faster is the charging. The charging power depends on the type of a charging station and EV specifications:

    • 7...22kW for slow AC charging from an on-street charging station;
    • 1.7...7kW for home charging; a single full charge may require over 24h;
    • 50...300kW for fast DC charging from an on-street charging station; a single full charge may require less than 1h;
    • Each EV has charging current limitation. Even if a charging station offers a faster charging, it cannot be charged faster than its specifications allow.
  3. start and end charging level;

    For instance, from 20% to 80%. Automakers advise maintaining an EV battery within the 20% to 80% charge range, promoting better battery longevity. This is required due to the chemical composition of state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries.

Autonomous Driving Range Calculation

This calculator helps you work out the autonomous driving range after charging for a certain number of hours. To do this calculation, specify:

  1. battery capacity, kWh;
  2. charging power, kW;
  3. charging time in hours or minutes;
  4. average power consumption.

Charging Cost Calculation

To calculate the cost of a charging session, specify the electricity rate per kWh.
